Gordon W.J. Oplinger, Jr., 83, formerly of Emmaus, died June 21, 2017 in Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg. He was the husband of Delores (Fritz) Oplinger. Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Minerva and Gordon W.J. Oplinger, Sr. He attended Albright College. Gordon worked in brokerage sales for Stiffel and Company. He was a member of St. Matthew's EC Church, Emmaus. He served on and as past president of Emmaus Borough Council, was a member and past president of the Emmaus Optimist Club, and was an EYA basketball coach for many years. He honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Delores; Sons, Stephen L. Oplinger and wife Missy, Todd L. Oplinger and wife Debbie, and Scott L. Oplinger and wife Jaime; Daughter, Sandra L. Caverly and husband Andy; Brother, Mark Oplinger; Sister, Wanda Ramsberger; 12 Grandchildren, and 10 Great Grandchildren.

Services: Funeral Services Viewing Monday, June 26, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in St. Matthew's EC Church, 35 North 5th Street, Emmaus, PA 18049 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Northwood Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
