Gilbert Ernest Peterson Gilbert Gil E. Peterson, 77, of Emmaus, died Monday, August 17, 2009. Born in Chester, he was the son of the late Leroy Norman and the late Henrietta (Maloney) Peterson. He and Charlotte (Brown) Peterson celebrated 52 years of marriage in December 2008. He lived in Upper Milford Twp. for 42 years. He was a 1965 graduate of Pennsylvania Military College, now Widener University, Chester. Peterson was an accountant for Air Products and Chemical from 1968 to 1994. He later worked more than 10 years for Quest Diagnostics, Inc. A longtime member of the Lower Lehigh Lions Club, Peterson served the club as president form 1981 to 1982, and was a former secretary of the club. He was particularly active on the flea market and Halloween parade committees for the Lower Lehigh Lions Club. Gil served as a Zone Chairman for Lions International from 1982 to 1983, and was awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship in the 1990s. He also served as a treasurer for the Penn State Cooperative Extension Board of Directors. Peterson honorably served as an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, entering the service in January of 1953 and attaining the rank of corporal. Gil was a member of St. Margarets Episcopal Church, Emmaus, serving on the church vestry as a senior warden and a junior warden, and singing in the church choir. Peterson also was a founding member of the Episco-pals, a mens fellowship group at the church. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, and was an avid fan of television, movie, and old-time radio Westerns. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Peterson is survived by daughters, Rev. Iris E. Peterson of Danbury, CT and April L. Peterson of Upper Milford Twp.; Son, Norman E. Peterson of Philadelphia; Sisters, Bernice Covert of Chester, Eloise Rothwell of Philadelphia, and Eunice Holland of Chesapeake, VA; Brother, Stanley Peterson of Chester; Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, John, Lewis, Charles, and Russel Peterson and sisters, Thelma Gibbs and Celestine Peterson.
