George F. Breunig, 91, of Tamaqua, formerly of Emmaus, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 in Hometown. He was the husband of Lucille (Schollenberger) Breunig. Born in Alburtis, he was the son to the late George F. and Elsie (Ruth) Breunig. He was a welder for Traylor Engineering and later he and his wife were the proprietors of George's Schwinn Cyclery in Emmaus until retiring in 1985. He was a lifetime member of Old Zionsville U.C.C. He honorably served his country in the Navy during WWII as a Gunners Mate on the LST 981, seeing action in England during the blitzkrieg, the invasion of Normandy, and the Occupation of Tokyo. Survivors: Loving wife; Sons, Dennis Breunig and wife Linda of Fleetwood, Dean Breunig of Tamaqua, and Darryl Breunig and wife Wendy of Mertztown; Daughter, Donna wife of Ronald DeBellis of Tamaqua; 5 Grandchildren and 1 Great Granddaughter. He was predeceased by a Great Granddaughter. Services: Memorial Services with military honors Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 11:00 AM in Old Zionsville U.C.C., Kings Highway and Fountain Road, Old Zionsville. Private interment will be in Old Zionsville U.C.C. Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
