IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Gene M.
Buckno
August 4, 1939 – April 14, 2021
In the late afternoon of April 14, 2021, THE Gene Michael Buckno died. As founding partner of Grey, Buckno and Senior Partner emeritus of Buckno, Lisicky & Co., CPA's, he served his clients for over 50 years. His talent and expertise garnered him the compliment, "He was a CPA's CPA" from a professional associate.
Born in Allentown, the son of Michael and Mary Buckno was an alumnus of Bethlehem High School and Rutgers University where he was a brother in Delta Kappa Epsilon and an outstanding lacrosse and football player.
Just out of college in 1961, Gene joined Campbell and Grey, CPA's, married Marcia Kraynick in 1964, and sired two children, Michael Joseph and Andrea Kay. He enjoyed following sports (particularly the NY Yankees, Rutgers and other college teams), hunting, playing tennis and working local high school football games as a PIAA sanctioned official. Gene attended Mass at the Cathedral of St. Catherine, served on the board of the Salvation Army, was a consistent blood donor, accomplished dart thrower, a member of the West End Kiwanis and the Navy League, a below average golfer, an energetic tennis player, a Mason 32 nd degree and a lover of the sun whether on his patio or a Caribbean island.
He was truly a "man's man" and a "woman's man", He never lost his temper, nor berated anyone; he had that uncanny knack of never revealing his judgment of others. But if he liked you, you knew it.
He always believed it was one's responsibility to "give back." Thus, he served his profession when selected to be the 1 st President of the PA Institute of CPA's not representing a "Big Eight" firm. He started his participation by serving on the State Ethics Board, chairing the State Board of Accountancy, sitting on the Estate Planning Council of the Lehigh Valley and climbing the ladder of elected offices to be President of the local chapter. Two years on the Board of the American Institute of CPA's provided the opportunity to work and serve with fellow CPA's from across the nation.
Gene's ashes will be cast on the waves of the sea off Anguilla, an island he loved.
Nuff said, Gene's Dead!
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to either Allentown charity, The Rescue Mission or The Salvation Army.
