Frederick Wenzel was born in Fulda Germany on December 14, 1940, and was the husband of the late Sylvia A. (Beyer) Wenzel. He was the son of the late Hans Wenzel and Anna Elizabeth (Richter) Heun. After being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer on November 27, 2024, he passed away peacefully in his home and went into eternity on January 10, 2025.

Fred worked as an accountant for accounting firms, banks, law offices and continued working until a few months before his passing. He was an ordained minister of the New Apostolic Church and served in the NY congregations of Astoria, Flatbush, The Bronx, Ridgewood, and Brooklyn. Being of service to those in the congregation was his true passion and he did so with pure love from the depth of his heart. Fred was an avid reader, loved crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble. Always the eternal optimist, he lifted the spirits of everyone around him. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, mentor, and wonderful friend. Spending time with family and friends around the dinner table with laughter and smiles is what he loved most of all.

Frederick is survived by his daughters, Lynn Shepard and her husband Robert, Jean Hemry, Tara Beth Villani, and Barbara Schwagermann DiGiacomo and her husband Peter; eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Memorial service will be held on March 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Woodbury New Apostolic Church 145 Crossways Park Drive West, Woodbury, NY 11797. Visitation will be held prior from 9:30-10:30 AM.
