Frank P. Messerschmidt's wife and family are sad to announce the passing of their husband, father, and grandfather on February 16, 2024. Frank was at home with his wife of 67 years Roberta by his side.
Frank was born to Frank and Harriet Messerschmidt on January 7, 1935 in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated from Jenkintown High School and from Drexel University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After working in the engineering field, he took on a new challenge of learning systems analysis with Mack Trucks, where he worked for 28 years. After taking early retirement from Mack Trucks, he worked for 30 years for Quest Diagnostics as a courier.
Frank was a member of the Emmaus Lodge 792 F.&.A.M for 61 years; a member of Catasauqua Royal Arch Chapter #278 Allen Council #23 R & S.M.M. of Allentown; and Allen-Beauceant Commandery #20 Knights Templar of Allentown. Frank was also a Boy Scout leader and loved to take the troop to Maine to camp.
Frank is survived by his wife Roberta, his daughter Patti (Mark) of Austin, TX; son John F. (Barbara), of Athens, Alabama; daughter Pamela (Ray) of Boston, MA; his granddaughters Elizabeth of San Francisco, CA and Catherine of Westminster, CO; stepgrandchild Justin of Idaho; his brother John R. Messerschmidt of Las Cruces, NM. He was predeceased by a son David Allen, mother Harriet Messerschmidt, and father Frank Messerschmidt, Jr.
Frank was known for his love of baseball, his silly sense of humor, and his love for his family. He was an avid reader, and was a history and trivia buff. He loved to keep in touch with his family members who were far away by regularly mailing them articles, puzzles, and other fun items of interest.
In charge of arrangements is the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St, Emmaus, PA 18049.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday February 24, 2024 at 11 am at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 6667 Lower Macungie Rd, Trexlertown, PA 18087. A luncheon will follow the funeral. The burial will be private to the family following the luncheon.
In lieu of flowers, send memorial donations to St. Anne's Episcopal Church or Emmaus Lodge #792 (in care of the funeral home).
