Francine D. Slifer, 81, of Emmaus, died September 28, 2014. She was the wife of Lloyd E. Slifer. Francine was the daughter of the late Millard R. and Catherine E. Schumaker growing up with her four siblings in Orefield, Pennsylvania. Francine was a 1951 graduate of Parkland High School and a bookkeeper at the International Ladies Garment Workers office. After moving to Emmaus and starting her family, she worked as a teacher's aide at Lincoln Elementary School, remembered fondly by many students. Francine was an office manager for Slifer, Voice & Shade Court Reporters where her tireless efforts helped to grow a successful business. Francine will be lovingly missed as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Survivors: Husband, Lloyd E. Slifer; Sons, Scott Slifer and wife, Christie of Woodsboro, Maryland, and Gregory Slifer of Emmaus; Daughter, Sally Slifer-Ryan, wife of Jim Ryan of Coopersburg; Grandchildren, Jeffrey Slifer, Stacianne Slifer, Blake Slifer, and Bobby Beck; Brother, Donald Schumaker of Orefield; Sister, Louise Bastian of Emmaus. Francine was predeceased by Brother Millard Schumaker, Jr., and Sister Leona Miller Services: Funeral Services private at the convenience of the family.
