Wood
February 13, 1945 – August 14, 2016
Floyd E. Wood, 71, of Hernando, Florida formerly of Macungie, PA, passed away
on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at home with his loving wife, Karen and his dog and
best friend, Spike. He fought a long, courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born in Washington, DC, Floyd was the son of the late Virginia (Everett) and
William Floyd B. Wood. He served in the US Army in 1966. Floyd then started
his career with Mr. Nicholas J. Bouras Inc. and in 1981 acquired Prior Coated
Metals in Allentown where he ended his 47-year career as a Steel Executive. He
was a very caring, generous, giving boss to all of his employees. Floyd was also
a long time member of Brookside Country Club and a member of Skyview
Country Club in Hernando, Florida. He made many friends on the golf course
and in his career, where he had a great impact on everyone. Floyd loved life as
many know; he was best at entertaining his clients, most of whom became his
best friends throughout his life. Floyd was a diehard Redskins fan, and loved his
NASCAR racing. He was also an avid Republican and enjoyed following the
Presidential race right up until the end.
Survivors: He leaves behind his wife, Karen, and his dog Spike. He is also survived by his
son Richard Wood of Savannah, GA, sister Margaret Stevens of Catasauqua,
PA, his sister-in-law, Patricia Boyle and her companion Jeff Campbell, brother-inlaw
William Keller and his wife Jane, father-in-Law, William C. Keller and his wife
Yolanda, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Services: Friends are invited to pay their respects and celebrate Floyd's life by joining his
family for visiting hours from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 27, 2016,
at Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Funeral service will follow.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Floyd may be made to Citrus County
Foundation for Animal Protection (CCFAP), P.O. Box 1164, Inverness, Florida,
34451.
