February 9, 1930 – August 21, 2017
Emory J. Long, 87, of Emmaus, died August 21, 2017 in The Lutheran Home at Topton. He was the husband of Eleanor L. (Heussman) Long, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage. Born in Alburtis, he was the son of the late Howard W. Long and Isabella (Reese) Long. Emory was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Emmaus. Emory was a 1947 graduate of Emmaus High School and a 1949 graduate of Allentown Business College. Emory was employed in the Linderman Library at Lehigh University. Emory enjoyed walking and he walked over 75% of the Appalachian Trail. Emory loved animals.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Emory is survived by a daughter, Kristina Ann and her husband Robin R. Schuster of Emmaus; his grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Scott Kiernan of Maryland, Justin Long of Denver, CO, and Sarah and Jared Schuster of Emmaus. Emory was predeceased by his sons, Terry Bruce and Daryl Shawn Long. Emory is survived by his sister, Miriam (Long) Ferlino. He was predeceased by siblings, Lloyd, Beatrice, Rhea, Howard, Warren, and Isabella.
Services:
Funeral Services Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM in St. John's Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus, PA 18049. Visitation 10:30 to 11:00 AM in the church. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church or to Animals in Distress, 5075 Limeport Pike, Coopersburg, PA 18036.
