Obituary

Ed Dexter Edward Kildoyle Dexter (b. 1928), formerly of Dallas, Pa., and most recently of Macungie, Pa., passed away Friday surrounded by family at Lehigh Valley Hospital. Born in Schenectady, N.Y., to Manley and Flora (Kildoyle) Dexter, he was predeceased by siblings and his beloved wife of 59 years, Janet (Gardner) Dexter, who died in 2010. Ed served honorably in the US Navy and in the Air Force Reserves. After graduating from Syracuse University, his gregarious personality led to a successful career in sales. He and Janet were avid bridge players during their 35 years in Dallas, and, in his later years, he enjoyed playing bridge at the Lehigh Valley Senior Center and breakfasting with the local Fleet Reserve Assn. Family and many friends will remember his quick wit and his propensity to break into song. His dying words were: "I'm going to be with Janet." Survivors: Ed is survived by his daughters, Susan Mooney and her husband, Jim; Linda Hoegg and her husband, Don; Maureen Calder and her husband, Bob; and Jeannine Williams and her husband, Owen; as well as 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services: Due to weather, visiting hours have been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15, at 10 a.m., at Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus, Pa., immediately followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. . Contributions: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
