Edward Kenneth Corcoran, 93, formerly of Cincinnati, OH, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023 morning at Arden Courts, Allentown, PA. Born Dec 16, 1929, in Plains Twp., PA he was the son of the late Charles A and Frieda (Krauser) Corcoran. Ken (as he was known to his family) was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Audrey L Kessen on Jan 6, 2019, his sons Gary T., and Michael P., brother, Charles E. and sisters, Annette Figlock, Shirley Bachman and Margaret Mishkin. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed served in the Merchant Marines and trained as a Maritime firefighter in 1947. He then joined the Air Force in 1951. He served over 15 months in Korea during the Korean war as a radio engineer where he was awarded the Korean War Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He then taught at the training school at Harlingen Air Force Base. After 4 years of service, he served 4 additional years as a reserve and was honorably discharged in 1959.
Ed worked for Bell Technology and retired with AT&T putting those engineering skills to work in many ways including instructing customers about communication design to help them better understand the products they were using.
Ed was a loving husband, father and a dear friend to many.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Wed., Dec. 27, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Rd., Cincinnati, OH. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
