Obituary

Dorrit A. Pino Dorrit A. Pino, of Macungie and Bonita Springs, FL went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 17, 2007. She was surrounded by her loving husband and best friend of 53 years, Anthony, her children and grandchildren. Dorrit will be dearly missed by all the friends and family whos lives she touched so deeply over the years. Born in Somers Point, NJ, she was the daughter of Dorrit Carlow of Allentown and the late Charles Carlow. Dorrit was raised in Philadelphia where she attended Roxborough High. She spent her summers in Ocean City, NJ and was crowned Miss Somers Point in 1950. After graduation, Dorrit had a modeling career and was a contestant in the Miss Philadelphia Beauty Pageant. Dorrit worked as a secretary to the vice president of Bell Telephone prior to her marriage in 1954. She and her husband, Tony moved the family to Allentown in 1965 where they ran an insurance business. Dorrit very quickly became an active member of her church and community. She served as a Sunday school teacher and counselor to the Sr. High at St. Timothys Lutheran Church. She was a tour guide for the Lehigh Valley Hospital when it first opened and then served as a volunteer for many years. She was part of the task force for Lehigh Valley Meals on Wheels and delivered meals to shut ins for over 20 years, often taking her grandchildren along to help. She also served as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. In 1990 she and Tony moved to Emmaus where Dorrit became an active member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit. She served as assistant minister, communion assistant and usher. As a former member of Trident Swim and Tennis Club, Dorrit won many tennis championships and later went on to play paddle tennis and golf as a member of Lehigh Country Club. She loved getting together with the girls to play a couple hands of bridge. Dorrit is survived by her husband, Anthony, daughters, Dorrit Emerich of Center Valley and Toni Lynn Fay of Allentown; sons, William Pino of Trappe, PA and Scott Pino of Coopersburg; brother, Don Carlow of Kissimmee, FL, 12 beautiful grandchildren and 1 step grandchild and 2 great grandchildren. Services: A funeral service to celebrate Dorrits life will be held at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at 11 AM. Friends may call from 9:30-11:00 AM in the church. Schantz Funeral Home, Inc., Emmaus is in charge of arrangements.
