Donald R. Bitting, 81, of Allentown, died August 16, 2016 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the widow of Eileen S. (Schuler) Bitting. Born in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Warren and Leah (Alderfer) Bitting. He was employed by Sears Roebuck for 24 years, retiring in 1989. He also worked for Day Timers for 6 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, where he served on counsel and joint board. He honorably served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Macungie VFW Post 9264 and member of the Sears Retirees, serving as president for several years.

Survivors: Son, Dwight D. Bitting and wife Cheryl of Coplay; Grandchildren, Blake, Justin, and Kaela; Great Granddaughter, Jocelyn Gehris; Sister, Dorothy Sartori. He was predeceased by a daughter, Carol L. Bitting and brother, James Bitting.

Services: Funeral Services Monday, August 22, 2016 at 10:00 AM in Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown, PA 18103. Viewing 9:00 to 10:00 AM in the church. Interment with military honors will follow in Western Salisbury Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
