Dolores "Dortzy" A. (Brown) Carl, 92, of Emmaus, died September 25, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital-Allentown. She was the wife of the late Eugene E. "Buzzy" Carl who died November 5, 1998. She was born in Emmaus on July 8, 1930 to the late William and Helen (Waschek) Brown. She was a 1948 graduate of Emmaus High School and a 1951 graduate of Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing. Dortzy was employed at Sacred Heart Hospital in the Pediatrics Unit until her marriage to Buzzy Carl in 1952. She was then employed as an office nurse throughout the years in Emmaus with Drs. F.A. Dry, Stanley Stauffer, J.R. Clifford, T. Eastland, Jeffrey Haberen, Timothy Schmeltzle, and Dr. Bub & Associates Family Medical Center. Dortzy cared for generations of patients as a nurse for over 67 years, retiring from St. Luke's Hospital in 2019. She was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit.
Dortzy loved to travel, loved knitting and crafting. She enjoyed going to the casino to play Texas hold'em, playing pinochle with friends and polish rummy with family, ruthlessly trying to beat them. She was a member of the Soroptimist, Red Hats, and the Sacred Heart Hospital Alumni Clubs and was an active member of the Emmaus Historical Society.
Dolores is survived by her children, Amy L. Osofsky of Plano, TX & Thomas E. (Christine) Carl of Emmaus, grandchildren: Ashley Osofsky of Philadelphia, Andrew Osofsky of New York, NY, Bayley Carl of Emmaus, Noah Carl of Emmaus. Dortzy also leaves behind many beloved nieces & nephews, Rosie Ruth of Ft. Meyers, FL and Tom Brady of FL. She was predeceased by a siblings: Betty Schwartz, Marie Keeler & William H. Brown.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Northwood Cemetery, Harrison Street & Keystone Avenue, Emmaus.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Luke's School of Nursing, Dolores A. Carl Scholarship Fund care of the Development Office, 801 Ostrum Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
