David O. Miller, 88, of Emmaus, died October 12, 2015 at home. He was the husband of Vera (Fisher) Miller, with whom he celebrated 64 years of marriage. Born July 18, 1927 in Womelsdorf, he was the son of the late Rev. Harry P. and Bertha (Decker) Miller. He was the elementary art supervisor in the East Penn School District for 33 years. He started his teaching career in Allentown at the South Mountain Jr. High School for 3 years and then came to the East Penn School District. He truly loved working with children. He received his bachelors and masters degree from Kutztown University. He was an honorary member of Kappa Delta Phi and an honorary lifetime member of the Emmaus Lions Club. Some of his murals can be seen in the stairwells and halls of the East Penn High School, many others in the Macungie Elementary School, and another in Council Chambers in Boro Hall and also social halls. He was always happy to lend a hand to help out in any way he could. He served 2 years in the military entering the fall of 1945 after high school and spent 9 months in Japan and the rest of his term back in the states. David loved to play golf and a perfect day was to be on the course by 7:00 AM with his golfing buddies and a good cigar. Survivors: Wife Vera; Daughter, Lizbeth wife of John Pink of Columbia, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Mark and 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
