David J.
Jones
June 13, 1926 – December 25, 2017
Dr. David J. Jones, 91, of Macungie, died Christmas night in York after a full day spent with his wife, Joan E. Jones, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dr. Jones was born in Shamokin on June 13, 1926. He was the son of the late Frederick Arthur Jones and Margaret May (Fitzpatrick) Jones. He graduated from Shamokin High School where he lettered in wrestling and football. In April of 1944, at the age of 17, David enlisted in the Marine Corps. Discharged honorably from the Corps in 1946, David worked for a time in his grandfather's moving and storage business. When war broke out in Korea, Dave was called up by the Marines in 1950, achieving the rank of sergeant. After the war, David sold insurance in Mount Carmel and Altoona, Pennsylvania, then entered the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, graduating in 1967. He operated a private practice of chiropractic medicine in Center Valley from 1968 to 1991. David was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, the American Legion and Masonic Lodge 469 of Center Valley. He was a 32nd degree Mason.
Survivors: In addition to his wife, David leaves to cherish his memory his children Jeff and Cindy Lobach, grandchildren Bill and Robin Tridico, David and Tom Lobach, and Stephen and Kelsey Hanzlik, Alan and Shao Ling Wang, great granddaughters Sophie and Emma Tridico and Christine Wang, sister Margaret Zerbe and children by a previous marriage, Christopher, Richard Michael, Scott, Laurie and Dauvey. He was predeceased by his brother Dr. Frederick Jones and his stepson Stephen J. Hanzlik.
Services: A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, the 30th at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Emmaus. Visitation 10:30 to 11:00 AM in the church. Interment will follow in Northwood Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Schantz Funeral Home, P.C. in Emmaus.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, David requested that donations be made to The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit.
