Obituary

Cynthia Mae Wilson, 71, of Coopersburg, died July 23, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family.  Known as Cindy, she was the wife of David A. Comfort, Jr.  She was the daughter of the late John R. and Lona M. (Hodges) Wilson and was born in Philadelphia.  Cindy studied English Literature at Dickinson College and Library Sciences at Drexel University.  She worked as a librarian at the Bethlehem Public Library for 14 years, retiring in 1988.  Cindy was an active member of the arts community in the Lehigh Valley; she sang with Lehigh University Choral Arts and served on the board of the Chamber Music Society of Bethlehem; she was a member of the Allentown Art Museum and a student at the Baum School of Art. She was dedicated to local and global environmental conservation and was a long time contributor to the National Audubon Society and Wildlands Conservancy, among many other organizations. Cindy experienced joy in reading books and magazines, spending time outdoors, dancing at concerts, watercolor painting,  and time shared among friends.

Cynthia is survived by her husband of 38 years, David A. Comfort, Jr.; daughter Rebecca Anne Comfort (Washington, DC), daughter Christina Mae Comfort and son-in-law Dan Gallaher Bissell (Haleiwa, HI); and brother, John H. Wilson (Livermore, CA).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one of the organizations mentioned above.
