Clifford W. DeFrain, 93, passed away Sat., Sept. 15, 2018 in his Macungie residence. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Delphine M. (Schaffer) DeFrain. Born in Macungie, he was the son of the late Jonas and Carrie (Schuler) DeFrain. He retired from Bally Case and Cooler.  Clifford was a member of Solomon's U.C.C., Macungie.  He honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Army, 29th Infantry Division, during WWII from 1943 to 1945.  He participated and was wounded in the Rhineland Campaign, where he was captured and taken prisoner.  He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct and POW Medal.  His home always proudly adorned an American Flag.  In May, 2004 he was present to witness the dedication of the long over-due WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C.  He enjoyed traveling with his wife to the Smoky Mountains and listening to country music.  He was a lifetime member of the Macungie VFW.

Clifford is survived by his Sons, Larry and wife Betsy of Emmaus, Dennis and wife Debbie of Emmaus, and Dale and wife Peg of Mertztown; Daughter, Sharon wife of Dan Fenstermacher of Breinigsville; 8 Grandchildren and 20 Great Grandchildren; Sisters, Betty Fritz and Geraldine Schmeltzle.  He was predeceased by 3 Brothers and 8 Sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Thurs., Sept 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Viewing 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ziegels Union Church Cemetery with military honors.
