Obituary

Charles F. Vehovic, Jr., 83, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, passed away at his home from esophageal cancer on April 16, 2025, surrounded by his family.  Born in Nolo, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Charles F. Sr. and Anastasia (Kline) Vehovic.  He was the husband of Catherine Misencik, with whom he shared 37 ½ years of marriage.

Graduating in 1961 from Penns Manor High School (Clymer, Pennsylvania), he was a member of the Future Farmers of America and was best known for raising sheep and winning numerous awards for showing them at various county fairs in Western Pennsylvania, in addition to the State Fair in Harrisburg.

As a naturally strong and gifted athlete, he played multiple sports but was a standout on the football field. In high school he was co-captain of the football team during his senior year (alongside his brother, Joe). He also went on to play football in the United States Army, while serving in Germany during the early 1960's.

Chuck worked as a coal miner, a farmer, and a truck driver beginning in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, then moved to Westlake, Ohio, and then to Phoenix, Arizona, and then eventually back to Pennsylvania where he, his wife, and his son purchased and managed two Midas shops in the Allentown area for many years.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports.  But his greatest love was when he was working on his farm, tending to his cattle, sheep, and horses.  He spoke about those days all the time, even recently when he wasn't feeling well.  He believed that Jesus Christ had blessed him greatly throughout his life by giving him grace, peace, salvation, and many second chances.   His nephew Jason most admired his uncle's outspokenness and that he was unafraid of conflict.

Survived by his wife, Catherine, his daughter Colleen (Steven) Andrijiw of Fort Collins, Colorado; his son Kevin (Heather) Vehovic of Coopersburg, PA; step-daughter Jennifer (Brian) Fisher of Coopersburg, PA; his sister Patricia (Jerry) Kane of Saint Leonard, MD, his favorite niece and nephew, Stacy and Jason Machowski; his seven grandchildren: Britney, Erica, Ally, Rocco, Logan, Lucas, and Judah, and his five great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Cameron, Kai, Corbin and Dominic.

Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Joseph Vehovic (formerly of Lancaster, PA).
