Charles J. Kline, Jr. Charles J. Kline, Jr., 86, of Emmaus, died February 3, 2009 in Lehigh Valley Hospital Inpatient Hospice Unit. He was the husband of Betty J. (Wetherhold) Kline. They observed their 63rd wedding anniversary on Dec. 22, 2008. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Charles J. Kline, Sr. and Helen F. (Grider) Kline. He worked as an Allentown Mounted Police Officer from 1947 to 1951 and later for the U.S. Post Office in Allentown for 21 years, retiring in 1985. He honorably served his country in the Navy during WWII and Korea. He was lifetime member of Unami and served as secretary of Lehigh County Fish and Fame for 10 years. He was happiest when outdoors and loved fishing, hunting, golf and gardening. His proudest achievement was learning to fly and becoming a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier pilot. His favorite airplane was the F4U Corsair. He also flew Skyraiders off the U.S.S. Midway during the Korean Conflict. Survivors: Wife; Son, Carter of Reading; Daughters, Sharon wife of Barry Browne of Hawaii, Tracey Carey of Palmerton, and Andrea wife of Alan Kurtz of Tamaqua; 12 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Wayne R. Kline. Services: Memorial Services Sat. Feb. 14, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Schantz Funeral Home, Inc., 250 Main St., Emmaus.
