Catherine E. Silfies Catherine E. Silfies, 84, of Emmaus, died October 24, 2007 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. She was the wife of Heber A. Silfies. They celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary in July 2007. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Jacob H. and Elizabeth M. (Bender) Welle. She worked for Josh Early Candies for 7 years, retiring in 1970. She was a volunteer at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in the Dorothy Morgan Cancer Center for 13 years. She was a member of St. Anns Catholic Church, Emmaus. She was a charter member and past president of the Emmaus Lioness Club, past president of the St. Francis Guild, Past President of the St. Anns School Alliance, and member of the Emmaus Mercantile Club. Survivors: Husband; Son, Stephen M. Silfies and his wife Alicen Bailey-Silfies of Macungie; Brother, Hubert Welle and his wife Mary of Salisbury Twp. and Father Jacob Welle, M.S.C. of Center Valley; Granddaughter Addy Silfies. She was predeceased by a son, David A. Silfies and sister, Bertha Jenkins. Services: Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 10:30 AM in St. Anns Catholic Church, 415 South 6th Street, Emmaus with Father Jacob Welle, M.S.C. as celebrant. Viewing Saturday from 8:30 to 10:00 AM. in the Schantz Funeral Home, Inc, 250 Main Street, Emmaus with a Lioness service at 8:45 am. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery.
