Obituary

Carlton T. Dreas, 87, of Emmaus, died Jan. 3, 2023 in St. Luke's Allentown Campus.  He was the husband of Emily J. (Arnold) Dreas, whom he married Oct. 17, 1959.  Born in Vera Cruz, he was the son of the late Francis G. and Florence M. (Schoenly) Dreas.  He was a 1953 graduate of Emmaus High School.  He honorably served his country in the US Navy during Korea.   He was employed at Rodale Mfg., Square D, Hubbell-Bell, retiring in 1993. He was a lifetime member of Old Zionsville U.C.C.  Carlton enjoyed golf, hunting, bowling, and was involved with the Neil Kline Chorus Musical Shows since it's inception.  He was a member of Emmaus Lodge #792 F&AM, Scottish Rite of the Lehigh Valley, Lehigh Shrine Club, Order of Hillbilly Degree, Lehigh Valley High Twelve Club, Brigantine Elks Club, Brigantine, NJ, US Navy Memorial Plank Owner, National Vietnam War Museum Chairman's Circle, National WWII Museum Honor Roll of Charter Members, Emmaus Historical Society, Shelter House, life member of Emmaus Fire Co. #1, Fearless Fire Company, Citizen's Fire Co. #2, Mercantile Club.  He was a past charter member of the Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corps, past member of the Emmaus Jaycees, serving as treasurer and earned Outstanding Jaycee of the year in 1961, Emmaus Lions Club, serving as president, secretary, treasurer, and zone chairman for District 14K, Emmaus Veteran's Association, serving as president for 18 years.

Carlton is survived by his wife, Emily; daughter, Carolyn S. Rhoads and companion Robert Schmeltzle, Jr. of Emmaus; son, Dean M. Dreas and wife Kerri S. (Schaffer) Dreas of Emmaus; grandchildren, Stephanie, Tyler, Justin, and Ashley; great granddaughter, Madison; brother, Maynard Dreas and wife Barbara of Florida; sisters-in-law, Louise Arnold of Emmaus and Erma Dreas; brother-in-law, Arthur Swallow; nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by brothers, Francis "Jack" Dreas, Garfield Dreas, Timothy Dreas; sister, Gloria Swallow and brother-in-law, Robert Arnold; sister-in-law, Margaret "Peggy" Dreas.

A memorial service will be held on Sat., Jan. 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus.  Visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the funeral home.  Interment with military honors will follow in Northwood Cemetery.
