Obituary

Carl L. Lorish, 85, of Allentown and formerly of Emmaus, died Dec. 25, 2020 in Lehigh Valley Hospital.  He was the husband of Gisela (Bier) Thiel-Lorish and the late Merle J. (Nester) Lorish.  Born in Hosensack, he was the son of the late Kenneth H. and Sara L. (Gaugler) Lorish.  He honorably served his country in the Navy Reserves for 8 years.  Carl worked at Superior Combustion, Mil-Fred Lanes, The Lehigh Group for 31 years, and part-time for Glenn Kane Electric for 10 years.  He was a member of Old Zionsville U.C.C., where he was a former elder and past president of church council.  He was a member and past president of the Emmaus Optimist Club and served as a crossing guard for many years.

Carl is survived by his wife, Gisela; daughters, Diane M. wife of Douglas Urffer of Macungie, Joanne L. wife of Robert Emerich of Landisville, and Jennifer L. wife of Todd Goudsward of Harleysville; stepson, Charles Thiel and wife Annette of Allentown; stepdaughter, Monica Thiel of Beijing, China; sister Millie R. Kohler of Emmaus; 4 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a sister, Florence A. Nester.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.  Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
