Obituary

Barbara Jean Bertram, a devoted wife, sister, daughter, friend, mother and grandmother, passed away surrounded by family members on April 13, 2026. Born the daughter of the late Stephen J. and Dorothy I. (Folk) Furst on July 16, 1940, Barbara’s life was always a profound testament to spread the love and word of Jesus Christ. She was well known for her passion of worship through bible readings, church services, and her avid love of singing gospel hymns. She was our own faithful prayer warrior and lives on in heaven singing and dancing at the feet of our Heavenly Father.

Barbara was born to be a motherly figure as she possessed a deep and unwavering love for all those in her life, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She became a consistent attendee of sports games, theatre productions, and any activity in between. Even though Barbara may not have known most of these hobbies, she was always her family’s biggest cheerleader and made everyone feel loved through her continued support. Barbara also thoroughly enjoyed taking part in family parties and events, in particular the Christmas celebration. Her tradition of singing “Happy Birthday” to baby Jesus will forever live on through her relatives.

When not spending time with her loved ones, Barbara Jean could be found baking, cleaning or shopping at the dollar store. She found comfort in sharing her signature carrot cake, disinfecting everything with lysol, and buying just about anything for only a dollar.

Barbara Jean always accompanied her husband, Raymond. They met when she was only 15 years old and were happily married for 67 years. Their relationship is a testament of true love and represents what it means to be soul mates. Until the very end, Raymond was an amazing caretaker and support system for Barbara.

Barbara Jean Bertram will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her, but her family finds peace knowing her faithful spirit is at rest.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Raymond; children, Debbie wife of Jim Ferry, David Bertram and wife Ann, Kelly Evans, Kimberly wife of Larry Labezius, and Dean Betram and wife Elizabeth; 17 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; sister, Patricia Spang. She was predeceased by her parents, Stephen J. and Dorothy I. (Folk) Furst; brother, Stephen J. Furst, Jr.; grandson, Adam D. Labezius.

Services will be announced.
