Obituary

Arthur C. Mohr Arthur C. Mohr, 96, formerly of Emmaus, passed away peacefully October 3, 2008 in Lehigh Center. He was the widow of the late Olga (Eccles) Mohr who preceded him in death in 1980. Born Sept. 27, 1912 in Emmaus, he was the son of the late Morris and Ella (Fegley) Mohr. During his time at Emmaus High School he excelled in all sports especially football. After high school he played semi-pro football for an Allentown team. Following school he went to work for Mack Trucks. Before WWII he toured 46 states with the Army engineers and a fire truck designated at Mack. During this tour he conducted demonstrations of techniques with this truck at military bases. Arthur enlisted in the Army at the onset of WWII but was quickly requested by the Navy because of his expertise in firefighting. After being recruited by the Navy he was sent to Alameda Naval Air Base in CA to train firefighters for aircraft carriers. After the war, Arthur returned to Mack where he was a supervisor for 29 years. Community service was a very important part of Arthurs life. He served for 8 years on the Emmaus Council, was assistant Fire Chief of Emmaus Fire Department for 50 years, a past member of the Kiwanis Club and he chaired numerous fund raising projects and Firemans Parades. He was also instrumental in building a training ground for the firefighters in Emmaus. Arthur will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Arthur will be remembered with love by his daughter Jane Gorman, her husband Lee, his grandson Devin and Devins fiance Nicole. He is also survived by a sister Lillian Weidner. Services: Funeral Services Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 10:30 AM in the Schantz Funeral Home, Inc., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Viewing 9:30 to 10:30 AM in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in Upper Milford Mennonite Cemetery. Online condolences may be made to www.schantzfh.com.
